Independence School of Music Fall Music Recital

Our music students have been working hard on their music lessons all summer and into the fall and now is the time for them to show off their hard work.  The Independence School of Music is proud to announce its first recital since we began operating in June of 2007.  The Fall recital will be at Brielle's Tea Room at 6523 Brecksville Rd., Independence on Sunday October 7th, beginning at 1 pm.

Each student taking music lessons may perform up to three pieces.  We will break halfway through for a brief intermission.  Refreshments will be served by Brielle's.  As a special treat to our students, several of our teachers will perform at the recital.

Music Recital Etiquette - Please plan on getting to the recital a few minutes early, and plan on attending the majority of the recital.  All of our students have worked very hard to participate in the event and have earned the right to an audience, just as your child has.  It is no fun to be at the end of recital and playing to only a few people.  If you can not stay until the end, please try to excuse yourself at an appropriate time between performance.  Also, it is valuable for your student to hear solo performances on instruments other than their own.  This gives valuable insight into their own music making - sort of like cross-training.  There should be no talking during anyone's performance.

Music Recital Dress - Performers should plan on dressing up for this event.  While it is not necessary to go out and buy special attire... for boys a sports coat and tie is appropriate.  At a minimum you should wear a dress shirt and a tie.  Young ladies should wear a dress.  No jeans or shirts for either boys or girls.

What to expect - Applause is appropriate as follows:
The performer comes on stage and bows (applause)
The performer plays his or her piece
The performer bows and makes his or her exit (applause)

All of the music teachers and staff at Independence School of Music thank you for staying with us during the recent transition from Prestige Music, and truly appreciate the privileged of working work your children.
